Alan Jackson

Born Oct. 17, 1958 in Newnan, GA

The tall, lanky singer-songwriter has been one of country music’s most dependable hit makers ever since he made his first appearance in the genre’s top 10 with his 1990 single “Here in the Real World.” Over the years, his subsequent chart toppers have included “Don’t Rock the Jukebox,” “Gone Country” and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” — his beverage-quaffing celebration with Jimmy Buffett.

He had a commercial breakthrough to a broader mainstream audience with his artfully crafted response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001, “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning,” which won him a Grammy Award for best country song. His no-nonsense songwriting and vocal delivery have made him a favorite of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Fogerty, among others.

Jackson also has charted a couple of moving odes to his late father — “Drive for Daddy Gene” and “Small Town Southern Man” — and earned critical acclaim for his 2006 album produced by bluegrass queen Alison Krauss, “Like Red on a Rose,” for its atmospheric look at the joys of aging gracefully.

    Two thoughts about Alan Jackson

    ALAN JACKSON,I saw him on the Jay Leno show on april 14th, 2010. He sang one song from his new album. He waved and quickly walked off the show.
    Mr. Alan Jackson and I are alike, we both are the exact same age a share many things the same. even our fathers both died the same age....and more,
    I'm also a ALAN JACKSON look alike and have been Impersonating him since 2000. I can send you my picture to see we could be brothers?
    Here's my little bitty story;
    It's been fun dressing up like him and I wear his cowboy hat. I try a give him great honor when Impersonating him.
    I do small time shows for free at charities concert shows and different events. I sing in alan jackson songs style to mostly poor folks again for free, these folks can't afford to go to a AJ show. Did you know average AJ show cost $50 a person, And sadly that's the cheap seats price, way in the back. again, when I'm all dressed-up looking like Alan and singing AJ's songs on stage to country music lovin folks, I can see at the end of my little bitty show I've put a smile on the adults, kids and grandpa too. Just like the real Alan Jackson does so well.
    Love you all,Just keeping it true.

    Yes, I met Alan Jackson on April 16th when he received his star on Hollywood walk of fame. I was 1 of the lucky ones that was chosen to attend the meet and greet, and private concert at the Hotel Cafe, after the ceremony. What a honor that was. To this day, I still can't believe that I had my picture taken with him and was standing only 4 feet away, during the whole concert. Of course Alan deserved that star, I couldn't think of anyone else that deserved it more. Alan is such a personable, caring, and talented man. He writes and sings straight from his heart, which makes him very special. Congratulations again Alan, you are the greatest star. Thanks again, for such a wonderful concert and the picture, it meant the world to me. Your greatest fan, Jennifer Smith
