Dorothy Phillips was one of the early stars of silent film who began her career appearing in "The Rosary" in 1911.

Phillips was a star with Universal but left that studio in 1920 to form, with her husband director Alan Holubar, First National.

After his death, she returned to movies briefly but then retired for nearly 20 years, again returning for a few minor film appearances from 1954 to 1962. Her last appearance was in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" in 1962.
