Died March 31, 1957 of coronary thrombosis in St. John's Hospital, CA

A veteran of more than 300 movies, Gene Lockhart made his professional debut at age 6 in his hometown of London, Ontario, Canada as a dancer with the Kilties Band.

Besides his long career as a motion-picture actor, Lockhart sang in concerts and opera, wrote a newspaper column and several popular songs.

He and his wife of 33 years, Kathleen, appeared in many theatrical productions together and were known as one of the theater's ideal couples.
