Died Dec. 31, 1943 of pneumonia in Glendale, CA

Hobart Bosworth directed and filmed the first eight-reeler. He also was an actor, producer and writer.

The list of major film successes in which he appeared — he had been in 526 pictures from 1919 to 1938 — reads like a chronicle of Hollywood's proudest efforts.

It includes "The Count of Monte Cristo," "Behind the Door" and "The Miracle Man."
