Born Aug. 26, 1917 in Tularosa, NM
Died Aug. 28, 1983 of cancer in West Hollywood, CA

Jan Clayton was one of America's premiere musical stars, but probably better known to latter-day generations as Lassie's original "mother" on the long-running television series.

She also toured with many of the national revival companies of "Show Boat," "South Pacific" and "The King and I."

    One thought about Jan Clayton

Had the opportunity to meet Jan Clayton on a Western Airline flight from Miami to Los Angels in 1979. Sat by here and enjoy 5 hours of pure delight. Keep in touch with her over the years, to her passing, and often think about her and her life of giving. Jan will always have a place in my heart as one that deserves to be on the Walk of Fame. As today you don't even have to be worth a darn in the movies to get a star. Tank yu for being a part of my life.
