Lindsay Wagner is best known for her role as Jaime Sommers on television's "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "The Bionic Woman" from 1975 to 1978. "Bionic Woman" ran for only three seasons, but Wagner's performance garnered her an Emmy in 1977. And it was all on a whim.
"My sister at the time was 13, and so I did the show as a birthday present,” Wagner said. “The start date of the show was her birthday. Talk about karma."
After “Bionic Woman,” Wagner was a series regular on two short-lived shows in the 1980s, "Jessie" and "A Peaceable Kingdom," but mainly was cast in numerous guest-star roles on TV and in films. For years, the ex-superwoman was a spokeswoman for Ford Motor Co. dealers in Southern California.
A champion of holistic medicine, Wagner also coauthored a series of books on the topic in the late 1980s.
