Mamie Van Doren

Born Joan Olander on June 2, 1931 in Rowena, SD

Known as one of the "Three Ms," along with Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, Mamie Van Doren was considered a bombshell during her 1950s heyday.

Van Doren's movie career spanned over 30 years by the 1980s. Her screen persona exuded sexuality and her film roles included "Teacher's Pet," "High School Confidential," "Born Reckless," and "Sex Kittens Go to College." Her last movie role was in 1985.

Van Doren was married five times and had romances with Rock Hudson, Steve McQueen, Nicky Hilton and baseball player Bo Belinsky, according to her 1987 autobiography "Playing the Field." Warren Beatty pursued her, but she never gave in, Van Doren told The Times at the time.

She had one son Perry with bandleader Ray Anthony, who was her second husband.
