Rudondo Puckett, 58
Died May 6, 2012
Rudondo Puckett, a 58-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, May 6, near 105th Street and Compton Avenue in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 3 a.m., authorities received a 911 call regarding a shooting, said LAPD Southeast homicide Det. J. Jamison, who is handling the case.
When officials arrived, they found Puckett wounded. He was taken by paramedics to St. Francis Medical Center, where he later died, Jamison said.
Investigators do not know what led up to the shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Luis Hernandez, 27
Died May 6, 2012
Luis Hernandez, a 27-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, May 6, in the 8100 block of Lou Dillon Avenue in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Hernandez was found about 12:25 a.m., said Deputy Tony Moore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Coroner's records show Hernandez suffered several gunshot wounds.
No arrests have been made.

Isaac Preciado, 18
Died May 6, 2012
Isaac Preciado, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, May 6, in the1100 block of Linden Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Officers responded to a call about 11:54 a.m. regarding a man lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.
When authorities arrived, they discovered Preciado had a wound to his upper body. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, officials said.
Later that evening, a 21-year-old Latino from Long Beach surrendered himself to police and he was booked on suspicion of murder.
Officials said the alleged assailant's identity is being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.

Donovan Hoover, 27
Died May 6, 2012
Donovan Hoover, a 27-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, May 6, in the 200 block of West 37th Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Hoover was killed about 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway and 37th Street when an unknown assailant walked up and shot him several times in the chest, Los Angeles police officer Gregory Baek said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Baek said. Coroner's records show Hoover suffered gunshot wounds to his head, torso, arms and legs.
No arrests had been made. Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related.

Jose Herrera, 60
Died May 4, 2012
Jose Herrera, a 60-year-old Latino, died Friday, May 4, after suffering trauma in the 4300 block of South Broadway in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Los Angeles Police Department Newton homicide Det. D. Gersna, who is handling the case, said Herrera was injured in a fight about 9:24 a.m.
Authorities were called and the victim was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Gersna said the person Herrera was fighting was initially arrested in connection with the death but later released.
No charges have since been filed and will not likely occur, Gersna said.
He declined to provide additional details about the case.

Yaxza Herrera, 22
Died May 4, 2012
Yaxza Herrera, a 22-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Friday, May 4, in the 25500 block of Marigold Avenue in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Herrera was found on the street around midnight with a gunshot wound.
Authorities were called and the woman was taken to a hospital in Torrance, where she was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m.
Winter said a cause of death has been deferred pending additional laboratory deaths. Results will not be available for at least six to eight weeks.
A close friend of Herrera’s contacted the Homicide Report and said the decedent was a cheer coach for Tri-City Falcons. She grew up cheering for Tri-City Youth Football and Cheer and Narbonne High School in Harbor City.
The friend said Herrera "touched so many lives and was loved by her community."

Michelle Monique Russell, 39
Died May 4, 2012
Michelle Monique Russell, a 39-year-old white woman, was stabbed to death Friday, May 4, in the 300 block of East Russell Street in Azusa, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
[Editor's note: An earlier version of this post, based on information from the coroner's office, identified the victim as Jane Doe #32.]
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Russell was found lying injured on the living room floor about 9:33 a.m. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
During the investigation, officials determined Russell's son stabbed her. He was arrested and taken into custody, Winter said.
Winter had no other details about the case.

Myron Chisem, 42
Died May 2, 2012
Myron Chisem, a 42-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, May 2, in the 19300 block of South Broadacres Avenue in Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The victim was a Navy veteran who had been an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent since 2007.
Chisem was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at his home, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Lt. Holly Francisco said Chisem's son, whose name hasn't been released, is alleged to have fired one shot from the backyard with his father's ICE-issued handgun.
The victim was in a TV room on the ground floor when he was wounded in the head, Francisco said.
The agent's girlfriend also lived at the house but was not there at the time of the shooting, authorities said.
The boy, who is 14, was apprehended and arrested in connection with his father's death.
He did not enter a plea to a murder charge at his initial juvenile court appearance May 7 and will face a May 21 hearing on his fitness to be tried as an adult.
Authorities say the boy was upset after clashing with his father over his school grades.
“There were some disciplinary issues in the house of which grades was one of them,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Todd Hicks told KTLA-TV.

Monique Burton, 51
Died May 1, 2012
Monique Burton, a 51-year-old black woman, died Tuesday, May 1, in the 100 block of Ellis Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Detectives found Burton's body about 6 p.m. inside the home she shared with her boyfriend. An anonymous caller asked police to check on her.
Burton had sustained “obvious trauma” to her upper body, and investigators suspect her death was the result of a domestic dispute, according to a statement released by the Long Beach Police Department.
Police said she was last seen Monday. Her boyfriend was found at a residence in Compton, the statement said. He was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail without bail.
