Alejandro Hernandez, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot Wednesday, March 17, in the 5900 block of Agra Street in Bell Gardens and died early the next morning, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Hernandez was sitting with two friends in front of a residence about 10:20 p.m. when an unknown assailant ran up from the street and fired, said Detective Dan McElderry of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. Hernandez was shot several times, McElderry said. His friends were not injured.
Authorities were called and Hernandez was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he died at 12:08 a.m. on March 18, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
Det. McElderry said witnesses reported that the assailant was last seen running north on Agra Street.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

This murder took place a couple miles from my Mother's house. It is more important to take messures to prevent such act's then to ask for the publics help when it is inresponsible to make the community responsible after the factg. The community should be organized before not after. This is my opinion only and is meant with no disrespect to the Bell Police Department who never gave me a hard time while I traveled through their city on bike, car and walking. Thank God for the living. Life is precious please do not destroy it. Leave that to the Elitest; and out of touch political figures who's only plan is the work the poor to death. We should join powers instead of falling for the same old trick of controling barrios. Like Tu-pac said in one of his songs. "Tell the homies Im in heaven and they aint go Hoods."

justice for alex he has a lil bby girl that came into this world shes gunna grow up not knowing who her father is and no one is doing a dam thing about it his family needs to get some justice now!!!!!!! open ur eyes ur letting the killer go hes out there killing more!!!! he probably struck at the latest young kid that passed away after alex you need to do something!!!!!! r.i.p acid. he lived a good life. he just got into the wrong things. Mabey if there were jobs avavilable there wouldnt be so much crime like this one. we miss you alex r.i.p!
