Alexander Nestoiter, 49

Alexander Nestoiter, a 49-year-old white man, was shot and killed by police Thursday, Oct. 18, in the 13800 block of Oxnard Street in Valley Glen, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police said they received a call about 1:30 p.m. about a man wielding a knife or machete. When they arrived on the scene, police said they discovered Nestoiter armed with a pistol, and they shot and killed him.

The shooting was the second officer-involved shooting in the San Fernando Valley in a 24-hour period.

Police are still investigating the incident.
