Alfonso Covarrubias, 17

Died Dec. 11, 2011

Alfonso Covarrubias, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 11, near Gladstone Avenue and Terra Bella Street in Lake View Terrace, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Covarrubias was tagging on Terra Bella Street about 2:35 a.m. when unknown suspects drove by and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Bruce Borihanh.

The victim died at the scene.

Borihanh said investigators believe the shooting may have been gang-related, but police have no description of a suspect or vehicle.

Anyone with details about the shooting is asked to call the LAPD at (877) 527-3247. Informants who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
