Alfred Pouliot

Alfred Pouliot, a 27-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, May 26, six days after he was shot by Covina police in the 400 block of Potrero Grande in Monterey Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Pouliot was wanted for a series of violent crimes throughout the area, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.

Covina police officers, part of a multi-agency task force pursuing Pouliot, located him at a hotel about 3 p.m. on May 20. They set up a surveillance operation and observed him leave and enter a white pickup truck, according sheriff's officials investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Pouliot saw the officers in their vehicle and, according to the Sheriff's Department, intentionally rammed his truck into the officers' vehicle.

Pouliot then stepped out of the truck and allegedly pointed a handgun at the two officers, authorities said.

At that point, at least one officer shot Pouliot several times, sheriff's officials said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died six days later from complications from his injuries. One officer had minor cuts and bruising from the crash, authorities said.

Sheriff's officials did not identify the officers involved in the shooting.

Another person killed and murdered by cops! The list keeps getting longer and longer. Cops behave like gang members and shoot at anything that moves. This will never be seen as a big deal until a white person is shot by cops and then the story will make headlines.

Hey Sys,
I enjoy your comments. As usual, there will be the "hommies" that will follow up by writing about how sweet and kind their cousin was and how he will always be remembered...
What a laugh....

Jag - you are the racist. there's been white folk killed by cops posted on here. Stop stereotyping. This is a violent criminal that was put down: It's unfortunate that it comes to this and definitely not worth celebrating, but it's the path he lived and the cops are doing there job. I, for one am thankful they're there.

Everyone that ever met him fell in love with him. He is a remarkable man and he always will be. Either way you look at it he still got away. Joe:

We receive a weekly listing of homicides from the Los Angeles County Corner's office, which we use to identify the name, age, race, location and manner of death for all of our posts.

We rely on the corner's determination of race. Ed Winter, the assistant chief of the coroner's office, has said that coroner's investigators use a number of resources to determine race. Often they will check police records, passports, or DMV records for the deceased. If race has not already been officially recorded they will ask family.

Joe,

does it really matter what race it written down for him? White or hispanic or anything in between what difference dose it make? This is a guy that neither race would want to claim. He was a violent criminal that as Teresa put it got away either way! No problems right?
