Alfred Prowell

Alfred Dean Prowell, 44, a black man, was shot several times about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, while sitting in his car in the 1800 block of east 22nd Street in Los Angeles. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Los Angeles Police Department officials, Prowell was sitting in his car when someone approached and shot him.  Police said Prowell got out of his vehicle and collapsed on the street.

Authorities do not know whether the shooter fled on foot or by car. There was no description of the assailant.
