Only 14 years old. This is too sad and wrong. How difficult must have been seeing this young child in the hospital day in and day out for six months. Not knowing whether he would be the same child he was before the shooting, whether he would fully or partially recuperate, ever. Now he is gone and the family are left behind with much grief, anger, disappointment and blame. They may never get answers and in the event they do get them, what good will it bring? their loved one is gone forever, the damage has been done. Should the perpetrator be found, prosecuted and thrown in jail for years a similar story awaits that family.
So as long as parents don’t give QUALITY time and attention, love and support to their children this story shall keep on repeating itself and multiply by the dozen. A poor parent can raise successful children just as much as a wealthier parent can. Being poor is not and should not be used as an excuse to not raise children appropriately. Being poor should not be used as an excuse to not ensure that children are being educated with proper manners and to motivate them to complete higher education and to become productive members of our society.
I do not agree with the idea of a bigger government; however, I’m a strong believer that part of the solution to our society’s many problems is to control nativity. Controversial, yes. But desperate times call for drastic solutions.
May this child finally rest in peace.

This really brakes my heart ... he was only 14 yrs old ... who would want to shoot a 14 yr old , have they got the person that shot him ? I really hope they catch him and put him in prison immediately , and they shot him in the head they really wanted this kid dead ... maybe some jealous friend . This is really sad . I have kids myself and reading this makes me NOT want to let them play outside you never know what type of psycho you bump in to.

It's the reality of the world we live in. This kid was probably already a gang member involved in some type of illegal activity. If not gang banging, most likely tagging, dealing in drugs or some other illegal activity that yields dirty money. At best? He probably only "looked" like a gang member. Shaved head and wearing clothes that are 10 sizes to big on him. Yeah...I judge. More like calling it like I see it.

@ DMS,
I would like to answer your query...
The same thing that is happening all over the world. The only difference is we've moved on from the stone age and have afforded you the luxury of driving, flying and the ability to judge via keyboard from your obvious safe haven of obscurity.
More importantly, rest in peace Alonso.

What this story fails to tell is that Alonzo "aka" Froggy shot himself in the head. While in a home known for "partying" He gave himself the life of an adult gang member. He was a bully while in school an out of control teen. I know this first hand as a parent of a child who he constantly pestered. My heart dropped when my child came home with the news. In the end he was a boy with no guidance and that's what truly make this story sad.
