Alvaro Rodrigo Quijano, 21

Died June 28, 2010 at 12:52 a.m.

Alvaro Rodrigo Quijano, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, June 28, near Hooper Avenue and Nadeau Street in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Quijano was riding his bicycle along Nadeau Street about 12:15 a.m. when he was shot, said Sgt. Sylvia Brossoit, who is handling the investigation.

Authorities were called and Quijano was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he died at 12:52 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Brossoit said that 10 minutes before Quijano was shot another shooting took place two blocks away. She said it was not known if the two incidents are related.

Quijano lived in the area in which he was killed, Brossoit said, and was not a gang member.

Anyone with information about the death of Alvaro Rodrigo Quijano is asked to contact Brossoit or Det. Phillip Martinez at the sheriff’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.

there have been a lot of f13 guys getting killed within these past couple of months. all over on the eastside . not to long ago they killed a innocent black woman that was in her 50's on florence ave /compton ave. she was homeless, putting some motor oil in her car when the f13 came and shot her in the head. she died.people of color are not playing with the f13 .there have been at least 8 or 9 f13 killed within the past 3 months,so far.when they shoot innocent black people ,a lot of times they don't know that they just shot some sick, crazy, demonic person family member. so then now the f13 have a person of color roaming there hoods like jason or michael myers ,literally just by there self, taking out all f13's.trust me i know !!

what the heck? alot of us working men are dying on the streets by low life thugs..I makes me want to carry gun on me. We obey the law, stay out of gangs we work for our familys but we get shot down by thugs and pulled over for having a 500 dollar 1986 toyota or not having a liscense on our bikes. how about the rolling stop sign patrol where you have a cop sitting for 2 hours at a stop sign writing tickets to the working man. this guy should be alive not on the freaking homicide report, it gets me so angry, why did he die? for nothing, i dont know him, but i know the story all to well...WHOS NEXT?

This is so dumb. Its the same ol crap day in and day out...and the state of california say we cant carry loaded wepons...its time for the common citizen to get strapped and stay strapped. We have a right to bear arms in order to protect our selves...cuz obviously ...the police will not protect you. They will how ever show up..and put up yellow tape...and chit chat till the coroner comes to pick your cold body up...Its time to shoot back at these killers on the street...cus the cops are not taking them off the streets...

I agree with foclipz! We have the right to keep and bare arms! The honest citizen that is out there working for a living to provide for his/her family, shouldn't have to look over their shoulders or be afraid of lowlife thugs that want your hard earned belongings. We should be allowed (with proper background checks) to carry our security on our sides at all times...just for reasons like this! A man murdered because he couldn't protect himself!

562vert, I couldn't agree more with your posting. Abiding citizens instead of being protected by police are only harassed by police. Instead of cops setting up traps on how to catch traffic violations they should set up traps on how to catch thugs and put them away.

Look man this is the LA streets plain and simple. This man was a fabric of that niegbobrhood, whether you guys want to admitt it or not. Im not saying he deserved to die in the fashion he did. Though like Hector Ramiro pointed out this was brought on by the local gang that incorporates most of that nieghborhood. There rivals have been instructed to do the same thing they did by shooting innocent citizens. You cannot shoot old grandmas, school children, and think there will be no consequences to ones actions. Now the blacks gangs have joined up to stalk, and prey on anyone latino male in that area. They are doing a serious jobs of the matter. If the citizens of this niegborhood want change. They should inform the local gang whom most are faimly tied in to. To stop shooting innocent children, and grandmothers. If not deal with the blood bath the blacks are giving them.

It's a shame that an honest person isn't allowed to carry a weapon,we in Texas can go to a week long class, have a back ground check done on you,and can buy a gun for protection and to carry with you, this evens out the playing field,we have had gunman trying to rob a person or a business that has been killed by citizens carring weapons,California has there honest law bidding citizens out gunned by teenage gangbangers, what a shame.but you are the Liberal state.

yeah right this guy was from flower 13 mexican gang that go out looking for homeless or old black people in order to drive black gang member from the area. I would not call them a racist gang because they are oK with the swayhook blood gang. i live on the west side and guys from my area are enemies of the black crip gang this mexican gang is beefing with, but we hate the mexican gang more for their coward actions agains innocent people. There was a Mexicans gang around here called the wafflo 13 and they were trying the same thing but funny thing is there not around anymore. any ways Mr 1x7hoover street is out

Ws1x7hxxver & WSH1X7VERz,

Since you two have so much street knowledge of what's going on in the streets, maybe you should focus more on being part of the solution, instead of the problem; It only takes one gang-member at a time, when you spread a seed of peace for the benefit of our families, women, and young kids, so that they could play outside, and be safe in their communities, and be able to have fresh air outside without getting killed for being outside.

when its all said and done ,one should really think of the reality of that bull crap thats literally going on out here. quit finger pointing ws1xx7.worry about them fools on the west where its less!Don't put the F/S/B in your words if you can't come correct. Its all about respect.when there are cats out and about not being regulated and schooled properly, then you get these results.stop all racist genocide period.!

HEY am not saying it was right for this guy to die but if one chooses to be from flower 13 or swayhook blood or toast crip in that area things can happen to you. This is not a rasist mexican vs black war because the swayhook blood hang out with the flower 13 Mexican gang. Infact some say the swayhooks are scared of the flower 13 but who knows. All am saying is this life style will lead to death or jail so to those out there remember its YOUR CHOICE... Mr 1x7 hxxver is okut

Enough...I wish California was more like Texas! Don't get me wrong, I love California...but there are just to many Liberal pussy cats (you get me) that feel we need to be protected by government! Let us law abiding citizens carry our weapon and protect our family and fellow citizens from these worthless pieces of society! I don't see anything wrong with that!

Im a 27 year old black guy from Long Beach.....Im mad when anybody is killed at the hands of others..gang member or not. men should not kill there fellow man...unless youre trying to stay alive.
Too many cowards out here...thinkin it coool to shoot people...and kill..but they will pay...god can and will judge
you...so you may get away with murder on earth..but you will pay.......

I am just asking respect for Alvaro's family who just lost a beloved child, Alvaro was a young man full of life, he just was in the wrong place at the wrong time, stop spreading lies about him, please respect his memory, there is a lot of people who love him and are suffering his lost. Remember that whom ever commited this crime can scape the law of man but ther is nothing hidden before God.
Instead of judging people get togeher and pray for those inocent lives that are been affected with so much violence.
