Anthony Berry, a 18-year-old man, was stabbed to death Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the 1300 block of South Golden West Avenue in Arcadia, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officials responded to reports at about 9:30 p.m., and Berry was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after, reported the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. According to coroner’s records, Berry died from a stab wound to his chest.

Berry, while parked outside a strip mall waiting for a friend, was stabbed after he got into a verbal argument with two employees from the Money Pot Shabu Shabu restaurant in the strip mall, reported the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Witnesses pointed out the suspects, and the knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was found inside the Money Pot.

Police have arrested Juan L. Lorenzo, 31, in connection to the stabbing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges — one count of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon — at L.A. County Superior Court in Pasadena on Thursday, Jan. 5. He is currently held on $1,030,000 bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 9.

The Times has contacted investigators to obtain additional details about the case and will post an update as soon as possible.

He was killed in some sort of a weird dispute with guys waiting to pick up a friend at a neighboring restaurant. Several media outlets, including the Arcadia Patch, have covered it fairly well. The suspect is in custody.
