Brian Chapman, 32 [Updated]

Died March 2, 2007 at 5:22 p.m.

Brian Chapman, 32, a white man, was shot inside a home at 9135 Larke Ellen Circle in Beverlywood and died at 5:22 p.m. Friday, March 2. Police said Chapman was shot in a father-son dispute. His father, Carl Chapman, was arrested and prosecutors have filed murder charges against him. Father and son had a history of conflict, police said. The younger Chapman had shown up at his father's house that day, and, investigators said, the elder killed him.

[Update Dec. 29: According to the Los Angeles district attorney's office, Carl Chapman has been charged with one count of murder. He is currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown on no bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 4 at the LAX Municipal Court.]

Is there anything new on the father's case? Trial date?

Richard, if you google the LAPD sheriffs office inmates, you can get all the latest updates. Court dates since his arrest have been ongoing every 4-6 weeks. He is allowed no visitors, and his other son Cary Chapman is also incarcarated in the same prison. One way to pass on information I suppose! and get to see him.....I hope that justice is done.

Molly, thank you--I have done this to find next court date, but is there any way to find out what has happened in these court appearances, and if and when there is going to be a trial?

will this guy ever go to trial and be sentenced ? It seems to have been lots of years. Does he have connections and is just going to be let off ?

I know Carl Chapman. He is a good Dude and I am relatively sure that he has been forgiven for what has happened.

Whoever Carls friend is, Carl had you fooled if you think he was a good dude. He is a very sick man. No one in their right mind would pull the trigger and kill their own child. The fact that he shot him several times, means he wanted to make sure he died. I pray with everything i have that Carl gets what he deserves. It was not his choice to make, to take someone elses life. I hope the guilt of that torments him every waking moment, if he even knows was guilt is.

If Casey Anthony can get off, then Carl can! At least Carl called the police and didn't hide what he did. I'm guessing he made a decision in the heat of the moment and there were other factors involved. You can't judge what happened because you weren't there; you don't know what the circumstances were. Brian shouldn't of been shot and will be missed by all. It's a sad story for the whole family.

Oscar M, the justice system favorites whites and that's the reason there hasn't been a sentence.
