Brian Humphries, 23

Died Sept. 10, 2010 at 8:56 p.m.

Brian Humphries, a 23-year-old black man, was fatally shot Friday, Sept. 10, in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Humphries was standing in front of a home visiting friends at about 8:30 p.m. when he was approached by two men and shot, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

Following the shooting, witnesses said the two assailants, who had not been identified, fled on foot north on Lewis Avenue.

Police were called and Humphries was taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where he died a short time later, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Long Beach Police Department's Homicide Detective Malcolm Evans and Todd Johnson at (562) 570-7244.

That whole area near LBCity College is bad. If you google the address and face south, you'll see the police there. Must be a 'busy' block for them!

RIP Brother Brian Humphries.I passed by this spot on 10/7/10.Said a prayer for the family and friends left behind, and remembered that many young lives have been taken away to soon, within minutes from this very spot.Stop the killing and go for a walk on the beach with your girl.PEACE.
