Brian Miranda, 17

Died Dec. 2, 2007 at 2:40 a.m.

Brian Miranda, an 17-year-old Latino young man, was shot at 24124 Arch St. in Newhall in the Santa Clarita Valley at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. An 18-year-old friend of his was also struck.

Miranda was transported to Henry Mayo hospital, where he died; his friend survived and remains hospitalized. Sheriff's Lt. Dave Smith said the pair were standing outside when suspects in a brown Toyota Camry drove by and shot them.
