Bryan Barraza, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 15, in the 5500 block of Gifford Avenue in Maywood, authorities said.

The shooting left Barraza dead and a 15-year-old wounded, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said. The teens were attending a party and were standing on the sidewalk about 9:45 p.m. when they were shot by an unknown number of suspects, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.

The two shooting victims were taken to hospitals, where Barraza was pronounced dead less than an hour later. The second teen is recovering, the statement said.

The shooting is being investigated as gang-related, investigators said.

— eddie .... you just told us a lot about the character of the deceased. You say he took risks. Can we interpret that to mean he was a gangster or gangster wannabe?

FOol, what amazes me the most is for the LA Times to allow him to bash and belittle the families of the victims over and over again in this blog. Many of my postings have been rejected by the LA Times when I address facts about certain crimes committed by Whites. I actually believe is the LA Times who are the racists!

JAG - On the comment for Joshua Cooper, the white boy shot in Watts, you wrote, "Also , the victim could have been up to no good".

On Aturo Cabrales' blog, you accused Sherriffs of wanting to kill someone just because they are hispanic.

Yea, I agree with you, there are racist apsects to the L. A. Times blog!
