Carlos Clavel, 29, a Latino man, was struck by gunfire multiple times at 1330 S. Pacific Ave. in San Pedro and died at 10:54 p.m. June 28.
The shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m. on this Thursday night. The victim's companion, a young black man, was shot in the leg and survived. Police said the two were standing in a parking lot when a black man or youth on foot approached and shot them. Clavel fell immediately; his surviving companion ran but was struck as he fled. Both were transported to a local hospital, where Clavel was pronounced dead.
