Carlos Viera Jr., a 31-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Thursday, June 2, in the 4700 block of Rosecrans Avenue in West Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Viera was walking down the street about 11:29 a.m. when a car drove up and he began speaking with the occupant.
The conversation escalated into an argument and Viera was shot, Winter said. According to coroner's records, the victim was shot several times.
Authorities were called and Viera was taken to a hospital, where he died less than 35 minutes later.

Carlos was a great man! I was the last girlfriend he had!! He was the sweetest man!! I loved him so much so did everyone else that was around him!! His smile would bright up the room! This also did not happen in West Compton. Sorry for the loss and I truly wish all the violence would STOP!!
