Che Grady, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, March 27, in the 5900 block of South Western Avenue in Harvard Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Police gave the location of the incident as shot in the 1700 block of West 60th Street, about a block away from the location the coroner's office listed.]

Neighborhood residents discovered Grady lying in the street about 6 a.m. after hearing gunshots and following the direction they came from, police said.

Grady was discovered with bullet wounds to his upper torso, according to Officer Cleon Joseph, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. Joseph said the victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.

Investigators consider the incident to be a gang-related shooting, police said.

It was not clear what led to the shooting or why investigators believe it was gang-related. Joseph said he did not know whether the group of people who found Grady had also seen the shooter, but he said police had no description of a suspect.
