Christopher Dajan Avery, 29, a black man, was shot to death at West 99th and Hoover streets in South Los Angeles about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.
Avery was walking home when he was approached by two men, said Officer Ana Aguirre of the LAPD's media relations office. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot the man in the head, Aguirre said. Avery was pronounced dead at the scene. Aguirre said there was no description of the suspects.
