Clara Myung Hee Chun, 26
Died Aug. 14, 2010
Clara Myung Hee Chun, a 26-year-old Asian woman, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 14, while attending a party in the 2300 block of Chico Avenue in South El Monte, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 40 people, most of them in their early 20s, were partying in a warehouse building when shots were fired shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Chun and three men were hit by gunfire, said sheriff's homicide Det. Teri Bernstein, who is handling the investigation. Authorities were called and Chun was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three injured men were taken to a hospital, where one was initially listed in critical condition and the others were in stable condition, authorities said. Two of the injured victims have since been released.
Lt. Patrick Nelson said the party was possibly a rave-style affair with alcohol but no apparent drug use.
“I doubt it was permitted, but I’m sure the investigators will look into it,” Nelson said.
The motivation for the shooting appears to be an altercation that broke out among some of the party-goers, but Nelson said it was unclear what started the fight.
Witnesses described the shooters as two male Asians. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
[Note: This homicide did not appear on a coroner's report several weeks ago. It was added Sept. 8, 2010, after The Times contacted the coroner's office about the death.]
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Det. Bernstein or Q. Rodriguez at the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.

Warehouse party. A bunch drunk teens and young adults looking to prove themselves. Good place for violence to break out.

Clara, you were much too young to leave this earth. I miss you very much, and I still can't believe you're gone. I guess it was time for you to rest in the arms of our Father. I know you are enjoying the kind of peace that you weren't able to experience on earth. Be happy.
