Claudio Johnson, a 20-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, May 30, in the 5900 block of South Figueroa Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The shooting took place about 7 a.m., LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph said. A witness reported seeing a male suspect approach Johnson, shoot and flee.
Johnson, who was shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to coroner's records.
Authorities have yet to determine whether the incident was gang-related.

i am in grief with you to the family of claudio what a wonderful and respectful young man to have known it was such a pleasure the way he greeted me with the most beautiful smile. i know at this time words wont comfort you but just trust god he will bring you through he will remove the pain one day and refresh you with beautiful memories that no one can take a way i love you all ms joyce from the building.

we lost one rip claudio, for anyone who seen anything please put this family at ease at least one family,thats all i ask for that person who took his life,GOD will have mercy on your soul for you did not know what you took from us a very kind soul!

Its hard to believe that a year today you were taking from us...I went to the cemetary to go visit you today and it really made my day...I just really miss you Claudio....so much has been going on lately and I wish you were here to see it all, good and bad....I love you forever :-) R.I.P CLAUDIO
