Dajon Daniels, 18

Died June 26, 2011 at 12:23 a.m.

Dajon Daniels, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, June 26, near 56th Street and Chestnut Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 11:35 p.m. and found Daniels wounded and down on the street, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

The victim was taken to a hospital for his injuries but died less than an hour later.

During the investigation, authorities learned Daniels had just left a party at a nearby home when he got into a fight with a group of black men.

At some point, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Daniels several times, officials said.

The gunman fled on foot after the shooting.

Authorities believe the shooting may have been gang-related.

Anyone with information about the slaying is asked to contact homicide Dets. Greg Krabbe and Peter Lackovic at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips can also be reported via text or e-mail by visiting www.tipsoft.com.

Whatever happened to fighting with fists? Still doesn't sound fair, 'group of black men'. Of course the gunman fled afterwards, that's what cowards do...

...hide behind their guns and flee. What a shame, 18 years young.
