Daniel Chavez, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot in the head and leg on Monday, May 4, in the 9200 block of Wakefield Avenue in Panorama City, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Chavez was waiting for his girlfriend outside of her apartment at the time of the shooting. She told authorities that she heard gunshots and ran outside to find him wounded, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office. Chavez died in the parking lot of the apartment complex at 10:48 p.m., Winters said.
