Danny Quijada, a 30-year-old Latino, was shot several times and killed on Saturday, May 16, in the 6300 block of Milton Avenue in Whittier, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Quijada was standing in front of his apartment building when a man approached him at about 5:30 p.m. and fired several shots, according to the Whittier Daily News. He died at the scene.
Whittier police told the newspaper that Quijada, who lived in the building with his pregnant wife and four children, did not appear to have any involvement with gangs.
Authorities described the shooter as a Latino with short black hair who was wearing a baseball cap. Witnesses said that after shooting Quijada the gunman drove off in a dark gray Toyota Camry.
