David Mam, 17

David Mam, a 17-year-old Asian youth, was shot several times and killed on Saturday, May 23, in the 1000 block of Hill Street in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Long Beach police responded to a call about shots fired about 10:45 p.m. They discovered Mam dead and another man injured.

Witnesses told police that Mam was standing with a group of people when a car drove up and a passenger fired several times into the group. The wounded man, whose name was not released, is a 19-year old white man from Signal Hill, police said.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported that Mam was a member of an Asian gang in Long Beach and may have been killed by a rival gang member.
