Demetrius Taylor, 34

Died Sept. 1, 2011

Demetrius Taylor, a 34-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 1, in the 14900 block of South Stanford Street in West Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Taylor was inside a residence when he heard yelling about 10:34 p.m.

Taylor went outside to see the source of the noise and was shot, Winter said. Authorities were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:48 p.m.

Coroner's records show Taylor suffered gunshot wounds to the head, torso, arms and legs.

Winter said he did not know if a person had been arrested in connection with the case.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
