Does It Matter if he was a gangster a young life was token!

Lola - it matters a lot. If you put yourself in a situation that is as dangerous as being in a gang; it's no surprise this (death) will happen.

Hey Meck!, Hey Meck!!
Just in case you didn't read what Ms. Theresa Freeman said, or your just simply slow, her words said she didn't know him personally, so that means she don't know if he was a gangster or not! Hello!!!

Why is it that people assume your a gang member because of the area you live in...He is a human being and he didn't deserve to be shot down like that..My prayer are with his family.

And if you're slow, I wasn't asking her directly. It's a rhetorical question.

I will always assume that. Anytime a young person is violently murdered in the ghetto, 90% of the time, it's gangsters involved. I've seen first hand what kind of people hang out in the Jordan projects. Plus, now that the details are posted, my assumption was right. They filmed the movie Menace II Society here. That should give you a clue!

Hey Meck;
I'll have to agree wit u on this one.. This kid was in the project's when he was gunned down.. He was a gang member I knew him..
The sad part is when people kill someone they kill a whole family. He was sombody's Son,Brother,Nephew,Cuzo,Homie.. And from what I hear he had a baby damn..
What type of life must he have lived being in the damn projects banging and doing nothing..
I'm glad in my day we had Big Mama's Uncle's & noisy snitching azz neighbors.. My generation had respect for human life it's not like that nowadays..
I'm not bad mouthing no one but he did have a baby as young as he was im wondering what kind of parents he had to be letting him have a baby and running around gang banging?
This is a tragedy, well at least he's in a better place now no more chaos and melee in his life or looking over his shoulder.. My prayers go out to the Fam..

Meck AKA Syscome Jr.
This was not gang-related and i know this for a fact i will not go into details. Everytime a minority is involved in a shooting its always presumed and printed as gang-related. Its as if they print before they investigate.

Look at the comment right above you. I rest my case. He should've been home taking care of his baby, like a real man.

Look at the pictures in his FB page. Nothing but weed, guns, flashing stacks of money (oh...and just 2 of his daughter). If he wasn't a gangster he sure did everything to look like one.

Looking at his FB page, trying to decipher what everyone is sayng, the gang flashing, the stacks of cash, the drugs.... no one in their right mind can honestly say this wasn't gang related. This behavior is accepted and it's being perpetuated through the generations. It's very sad... a life was lost, people are left without their friend/family member. Unfortunately, that's the life that he chose. Before everyone comes back saying he knew nothing else, there are plenty of success stories of disadvantaged people making this world a better, safer place. No excuses....

Mom3 I totally agree with you!!
Oct. 22, 2011 at 6:54 p.m.
smh, mom3 is right, you are accepting and perpetuating this behavior. Deshon may have had friends, may have taken care of his family, but he was obviously involved in the drug trade. That is the same trade that is destroying so many lives across the US. It's dangerous biz, and people die all the time...there is no surprise to this situation. And just because someone is dead, doesn't mean you can speak the truth about them.

May my nephew rest in peace...no matter what. people think Deshon is a high school graduate...Deshon was a great father he put his baby to bed every nite...Deshon was killed by a 40yr old crack head.....so now when u post something about Deshon Lamont Raspberry post it with some facts..I respect everyone rights to speak but please do some research...was he an Angel no...but now he is because he knew God before he left us

Just because he was a gang member doesn't mean the shooting itself was necessarily gang related. I think a lot of people are missing this point. There are a lot of scenarios (i.e. personal grudges, unpaid loans, family disputes) that cause violence in the hood which doesn't make it a gang thing. I think what's missing here is who the perpetrator was, and what happened to him... With 20 witnesses and the perpetrator on foot, I doubt he would get away for long. A 48 year old man was killed the next morning in the same area, but until a connection is reported I won't draw any conclusions. RIP Deshon.

I sit here and read some of these comments and its hard to believe that some of you fkn idiots are adults....no one has the right to take anyones life...GANG BANGER OR NOT you didnt personally know him nor his family to say he was a gang banger...now days you can be a damn straight A student and be killed....so dont assume he was a gang banger because of the area he lived in...let that have been one of your family members or friends you would feel the same... God decides when you leave this earth not another human!!! Sometimes the dumb ass comments should just be kept to yourself
April 16, 2012 at 8:24 a.m.
@Dont speak on what you dont know -
"God decides when you leave this earth not another human!!!"
So it was God that walked up to him and shot him???
April 25, 2012 at 1:21 p.m.
Some people shouldn't comment on these matters. Outsiders always say the same things"He was a banger".
April 28, 2012 at 9:37 a.m.
— Cleveland Dre .... so how are we supposed to interpret the gang signs, the drugs and the money?
April 30, 2012 at 1:13 p.m.
Well, maybe he wasn't a gangbanger, but he sure was a poor judge of "friends". Standing there with 20 other people and police are asking anyone with info to come forward??? Imagine how the family feels. "Nah, I was looking at my cell-phone when they shot him." "Me? I was checking out my stocks in the Wall Street Journal." What a bunch of losers.
