Diane Newlander, a 73-year-old white woman, was shot and killed Tuesday, May 4, in the 400 block of South Swall Drive in Beverly Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Beverly Hills police officers discovered Newlander's body and the body of a man authorities believe to be her husband after going to their home on a "welfare check" Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

"All indications are showing that this couple were the victims of a murder-suicide," Sgt. Renato Moreno said. "There is no threat to the community."

Detectives had not determined what sparked the violence, police said.

She was my step mother for many many years, and I have a lot of good memories of her growing up.
I was very sad to hear that she died so tragically.

Were these the Newlanders who were investors in DBSI of Boise Idaho which has dragged 1000's of retirees into the bankruptcy court?
