Diego Begines, 26, a Latino man, was fatally shot at 8:22 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in his frontyard in Compton.
Begines was outside his home in the 1000 block of South Willowbrook Avenue when three Latino men approached him, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Begines several times in the upper torso, deputies said. Begines was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The three assailants fled on foot. One was captured shortly afterward and was booked on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
