Dion Holloway

Dion Holloway, 17, a black youth, was shot at 1731 Belmont Ave. in Pasadena at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, and died at the scene. Officers responding to a "shots-fired" call found him dead in the street with multiple wounds, said Lt. Keith Jones of the Pasadena Police Department.

He was walking on the sidewalk when his attackers pulled up in a dark SUV; a man or youth got out and started shooting, said Pasadena Lt. John Dewar. The victim tried to run, but was struck as he fled and fell to the ground. The assailant then shot him again, execution-style.

Dion is the second son in this family to be murdered. His brother was a Pasadena homicide victim in 2005, police said.

Detectives seek any information on the case. Call (626) 744-4522.

[Update Jan. 27, 2010: Sandi Gibbons, public information officer for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, said that in 2009 three men were convicted in connection with Holloway’s death.

Kameron Walker was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 80 years to life in prison with 941 days credit time. Eric Williams was also convicted of murder and sentenced to 60 years to life in prison with 969 days credit. Officials handling the investigation said Walker was the shooter, while Williams was the driver.

Juan Villatoro pleaded guilty to being an accessory. He was sentenced to four years in prison with 982 days credit of time served, Gibbons said.

Investigators handling the case said that even though Holloway was not a gang member, the shooting was gang-related. Also, his death was not associated with his brother's killing in 2005.]

Thank you HR for the update. Very scary to be the parent of young men in LA even in Pasadena. I am sorry to this family and for the loss of this young man. Good job Pasadena PD. :)
