Eduardo Solis, 4-month-old baby

Died April 7, 2011

Eduardo Solis, a 4-month-old Latino baby, died Thursday, April 7, in the 8700 block of Beverly Boulevard in Beverly Grove, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Editor's note: This death was first reported by the coroner in April, but a determination that the cause was homicide was not made until later. The Times added it to the Homicide Report after that confirmation.]

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Eduardo was in the care of his father when he was discovered limp and unresponsive.

The baby was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he displayed seizure-like activity and a subdural hematoma was diagnosed, Winter said.

A CAT scan revealed the infant suffered cerebral edema, and he was declared brain dead.

According to coroner's records, the child died from blunt head trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Winter had no other information about the case, including whether someone had been arrested.

The Los Angeles Police Department Abused Child Unit is handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities at (877) 527-3247. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

One reader comment about Eduardo Solis

I think that its a shame that OUR GOVERMENT can through someone in jail for selling some weed and yet these child molesters and rapists and murderers get to live! In my book, anyone who harms a CHILD, a inocent, cant tell you to stop cause that hurts, cant defend for themselves, a gift from GOD himself...they deserve to be HUNG! Others that continue to do this are looking at what that person got, well he molested and killed his baby and only got 15 years...WOW! Thats sad. I have kids...and the way this system works.. if anyone ever touched or harmed one of my children, I wouldnt give the Judge a chance to Judge them, I would send them straight to the one who will someday JUDGE US ALL!! No 15 years or LIFE in prison.. A life in HELL sounds right! IN THE BIBLE IT SPEAKS OF THINGS TO COME, BETTER GET READY... RIP BABY SOLIS...YOUR DADDY LIVES!
