Edwin Cobbin, a 17-year-old African American, was shot and killed June 8 in the 13300 block of Cordary Avenue in Hawthorne, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Two men in a dark SUV drove up to Cobbin as he was standing outside of his house, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The men got out of the vehicle and asked Cobbin where he was from, searched his pockets, then shot him several times, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The two men got back into the vehicle and drove away, heading north on Cordary Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Cobbin was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

I remember when i first met Edwin at leuzinger. He was so shy and wouldnt even talk to me. Eventually he became my boyfriend and we were dating for about 8 months. Ive known Edwin since 7th grade. He was the sweetest thing ever, Last conversation I had with Edwin was right before his death, and all I can remember is him on that bike all the time,rollin around hawthore like he was the bizzness lol... we had great memories.

wow , remember when we 1st met EDWIN? you was new to Luezinger & ii always messed with you in homeroom. I told you no matter what you will always be my 9th grade crush & you would laugh & say better be. Memories with you will never fade away my love. iiLovee & Miss you dearly.
