Edwin Cordero, 21

Died Aug. 17, 2010 at 12:37 p.m.

Edwin Cordero, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the 4600 block of East 3rd Street in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Cordero was standing on the sidewalk about 12:32 p.m. when a car drove by and someone inside the vehicle shot at him, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called, and Cordero was pronounced dead at the scene, Winter said.

L.A. County sheriff's homicide Det. Mark Lillienfeld, who is handling the investigation, said Cordero was a gang member and the incident was gang-related.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Witnesses to the shooting said there were two occupants in the car: a Latino driver and passenger who fired the weapon. They were driving a late 90s to early 2000 black four-door Toyota Corolla with a spoiler, tinted windows and chrome wheels, Lillienfeld said.

Anyone with information about the case or the identity of the shooters is asked to contact Det. Lillienfeld at (323) 890-5500.

Unbeleivable, so close to the East Los Angeles Sheriff's station, so close to Lupe's Tacos, where all police officials are always eating a taco/burrito, so close, these people had no fear in broad day light, they took a big chance?

You could see the homicide investigation from the Gold Line. They stopped all traffic but allowed the trains through at reduced speed.

Paul and Joseph, it is not surprisingly at all to see people get robbed and even killed in front of a police station. I had my car broken into outside a police station and a friend of mine was robbed right outside the Hollenbeck police station. Maybe cops are to busy doughnuts and don't care what goes outside their facilities.

Rest In Paradise 2 that Marvelous CREEPER!

The BIG question is how can a case like this so close to the Sheriff Station be unsolved? With so many cops all over East La patrolling our neighborhoods.
My point is how can this case be unsolved with so many cameras in our East Los Angeles streets, with the Gold Line passing right through 3rd street.. & NO WITNESSES?
Regardless of his affiliation or past history hes still human and his case should be investigated.

I MISS YOU EDWIN!!!
