Enrique Adame, 34

Died Aug. 28, 2010 at 12:04 a.m.

Enrique Adame, a 34-year-old Latino, died Saturday, Aug. 28, three months after he was stabbed in the 1600 block of West Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Correction: Based on preliminary information provided by the coroner's office, an earlier version of this post incorrectly listed the address where Adame was stabbed as 1165 N. Echo Park Ave.]

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Adame was stabbed May 28 at 2:10 a.m. and was taken to County-USC Medical Center where he remained until his death Aug. 28 at 12:04 a.m.

According to coroner's records, the official cause of death was listed as multiple organ failure due to multiple stab wounds.

LAPD homicide Det. Jeff Cortina, who works in the Rampart Division and is handling the investigation, said Adame was walking to a vehicle when he was approached by someone. Adame was stabbed during an altercation with the person. A witness called police and Adame was taken to the hospital, Cortina said.

In the weeks since the attack, Adame was in and out of consciousness and unable to provide information about his assault, Cortina said.

Investigators do not know whether the incident was gang-related. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Adame's son, Matthew Adame Valencia, said his father was a great cook who loved sports and was a faithful Dodgers fan.

"He was a great friend, son and brother...He fought long and hard to overcome his wounds for 3 months," Adame wrote in an e-mail to The Times. "His life tragically ended too soon."

Anyone with information about Adame's homicide is asked to contact Det. Cortina at (213) 484-3634 or (213) 484-3403. Those who would like to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

It's terrible that his life was ended that way. He was part of my family and I cant thank him enough for being such a good uncle to my daughter and my nephews. I still can't believe i will never hear his voice again and I couldnt even be present to his funeral. The killer needs to pay for what he did please if anyone knows anything speak up.We will miss you and love you Henry.

When the day was dull and sad, you brought sunshine to everyone with your smile. The laughter you shared, brought happiness to everyone's heart. We miss you so, but we know you're in a better place, a better place in Paradise where we shall all meet again someday...
