Fabian Mecina, 15

Died Jan. 9, 2008 at 4:47 p.m.

Fabian Mecina, a 15-year-old Latino youth, was shot at the intersection of Beach Street and Eucalyptus Avenue in Inglewood about 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Mecina was walking on the sidewalk when a gunman approached him from behind and shot him with a shotgun. The gunman ran to a dark-colored vehicle waiting at a nearby parking lot and drove west on Beach Avenue.

Mecina was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:47 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call the Inglewood police homicide section at (310) 412-5246 or the 24-hour anonymous hotline at (888) 41-CRIME.
