Felipe Villarreal, a 43-year-old Latino, was shot several times and died June 15 in the 3400 block of East 1st St. in Boyle Heights, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Villarreal had been drinking and playing pool in a Boyle Heights bar with Rafael Padilla, 57, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The bartender told police that Villarreal and Padilla went outside the bar to talk when it closed at 2 a.m.
