Francisco Batres-Lopez, 29

Died Feb. 4, 2012

Francisco Batres-Lopez, a 29-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Saturday, Feb. 4, in the east side of Tujunga Wash, south of Victory Boulevard in Valley Glen, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Batres-Lopez had been stabbed in the chest, according to Los Angeles Police Sgt. Trina Bluff of the Van Nuys station.

Authorities were called, and Batres-Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is believed to be a transient who lived in the area, Bluff said.

There have been 33 homicides within two miles of Victory Boulevard and Ethel Avenue since 2007, according to The Times’ Homicide Report.
