Francisco Leon Jr., 21

Died Oct. 24, 2010

Francisco Leon Jr., a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 24, in the 11500 block of Fellows Avenue in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Foothill officers responded to a shooting call about 3:09 a.m., according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release. When officers arrived, they found Leon lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and arm, according to coroner's records.

Paramedics were called and Leon was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

During the investigation, detectives learned he was at a party when an unknown man approached and asked his gang affiliation. The assailant then pulled out a gun, shot Leon and left the scene.

Detectives say Leon had no known or apparent gang ties.

Witnesses described the shooter as an 18- to 25-year-old Latino wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information about Leon’s death  is asked to call Foothill homicide Dets. Martinez or Gahry at (818) 834-3115. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

This area is deadly. In three years, 22 homicides within a mile radius of this location. And 14 of them were in the past two years.

Anyone want to speculate on how quiet it would be if there would be an aggressive push to get rid of the sociopaths and their enablers?

In this area? Forget it. It's infested with gangsters!

Seems that area was surrendered to the gangs a while ago. It would probably take an act of Congress to get it back.

This part of the SFV is infested with gangs.

Pacoima Piru Bloods, Front St. Valley Crip, Pacoima Flats 13, SanFer 13 to the north, Ligget Bloods to the south, etc ...

I would be very cautious around here especially at night.

Parties go on around here all night, no one bothers to call police to shut them down. Loud music, DJ lights, you get the idea. They go on until 1 or 2am, damned what affect or how rude it is to the neighbors.
But then again, how do expect a Salvadoreno, Honduran, Guatemalan or Mexican to respect each other? The area is ethnically splintered to say te least.
Not all of Pacoima is infested with gangs. I wonder, though, how many of the 'bangers have mortgages? Probably very few. Either living with mommy and daddy or on public housing assistance.
