Francisco Tomas, 22

Francisco Tomas, a 22-year-old Latino, died after being shot in an apparent gang-related attack late on Friday, Feb. 28, 2009, on the 3300 block of East Olympic Boulevard in Boyle Heights.

Tomas was walking about 10:45 p.m. with two friends when two other men approached them and asked where they were from, according to police. The suspects then began shooting and fatally wounded Tomas in the chest.

The other men sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police, who were still searching for the suspects.
