Freddy Carranza Jr., 26, a Latino man, was fatally shot at 225 N. Avenue 53 about 8:30 p.m. in Highland Park on Tuesday, March 11.
According to authorities, Carranza was in the hallway of his apartment building when at least one assailant approached him and shot him with a handgun. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics about 8:46 p.m.
The shooting is gang-related, police said.

Freddy "Tower" was a graffitti artist who smoked weed. I knew him personally and been to his house. He was never into stupid gangs. He was from DMP, a tagger crew... no one from there is from a street gang, stupid detectives really are clueless about what goes on in the hood.
