Gabriel Espitia, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Dec. 3, in the 5000 block of East Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies responded to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in the late evening and found Espitia with several gunshot wounds in an alley, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to coroner's records, Espitia was shot numerous times in the head and torso.

Detectives investigating the crime scene reported no immediate information on a potential suspect, said Det. Sgt. Luis Núñez.
