Aaron Welch was the suspected shooter. Apparently he rented a room from the Herrera family and had a brief relationship with Genny. Or perhaps he was dreaming he had a relationship and was mistaken.

I knew Genny Herrera personally, she was a friend of mine, and we met when our children started pre-school..her daughter was in my son's class. She was a very devoted, loving, caring, mother and wife. She would volunteer every day in school, and so would I. We were the only mothers that wouldn't leave our kids alone, an decide to stay and rather help, to be there with them.
Her daughter was also an only child, just like my son. We became friends, and even though my son and her daughter parted to different schools, we still didn't loose touch. Also, I am a Realtor, so I helped them with the sale of their apartment in Stocker St. in Glendale, and they wanted to move to a house in a nice neighborhood, and so I found them their home in La Canada, I sold it to them in 2005. They were so kind and patient, unlike other clients, her husband and her bared with me through all the ups and downs of the escrow. They were so happy with the purchase of their new home, and they started remoldeling it, and doing lots of upgrades, cause the neighborhood they purchased in had homes of more than $1 million, so there house had great potential, if it had not been for the decrease in market that started in 2006, they wouldn't have had the financial hardship.
So, they needed to rent a portion of their home to make ends meet, and I guess that is when this man named Aaron, came into the picture...and so on..
Wish he never came into their lives, she would still be alive!! GOD BLESS YOU, MY FRIEND GENNY, AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. YOU ARE GREATLY MISSED!!!

I would have kept it in the family rent it out to a cousin, aunt etc, but I guess they were nice people and ended up trusting the wrong person.
