Gerardo Fernandez, a 20-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Jan. 8, a day after he was shot in the 12000 block of Old River School Road in Downey, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Fernandez got into a fight Jan. 7 about 9:30 p.m. and was shot.
Authorities were called and Fernandez was taken to a hospital where he died the next day at 3:23 p.m.
The coroner's office had no other additional information about the case.

Word on the streets is gerardo was done like that because he was a "snitch", atleast his own "homies" is saying that. I dont know why he joined a gang if he was living in south gate/downey where its impossible to live a gangster life. Especially when your born into a great circumstance of not living in the hood and given a chance to excel. apparently he screwed up so much and so bad it wasnt even an enemy that did this. Now another young man that didnt get to grow is gone... ..lol so 2 the famliy stop defending this loser
