Gregory Anderson, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, June 24, in the 700 block of North Willowbrook in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Anderson was riding his bike in the middle of the street about 7:13 p.m. when he was approached by an unknown assailant and shot several times, said sheriff's homicide Detective Q. Rodriguez, who is handling the investigation.
Authorities were called and Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:30 p.m., according to coroner's records.
Witnesses described the shooter as a black male, 20 to 25 years old. Rodriguez said police believe the shooter is involved in a gang.
Anderson was also a gang member, Rodriguez said, but had started to turn his life around in order to care for his son.

This information from this article is so not true. This happen about 5:00-5:30 pm with 100's of witness passing by, on the train, in cars and walking. My Nephew was gunned down like an animal. The Compton Sheriff Department treated everyone standing by as if they did it. They gave no concern for the family who had just lost their love one. They were rude and made comment that were very interoperated. It took the Los Angeles Coroner's office forever to come. Once they finally came they treated the body as if it was road kill. The Coroner office consisted of two woman to handle the body. My Nephew weight over 300 pounds. They struggle to get him in the van. While male officer stood by and watched. Its always a sad situation when you loose a love one, But even more sad that the officers that handle this investigation was horrible and rude. What if this was someone from their family. They should of understood that was someone son, brother, father and nephew who died.

KeePin.itCompton- It is sad to say that we all have heard that black and latino males rarly live past 25 years of age. The thing is, we must break that cycle. We must find ways to end this violence that hurts us all in some way or another. THIS SENSLESS VIOLENCE OF KILLING AT WILL MUST END!!!!!!. The reason for all this death is based on a color, Red or Blue, on a street or a style of dress. It makes no sense and we all must try to prevent this. Some of the people who post here feel that it is hopeless and seem to feel some kind of satisfaction from the violence, others feel like I do and want to end this mayhem. The so called "baby gangsters" are the one's with no regret about taking a life, they have no fear of death or jail, it is a badge of honor for them. Father's need to step up and teach their sons to be real men, to work and go to school and respect God,man and their communities.Women need to step up and teach their son's to respect women and children, to value life and freedom. Stop blaming being poor or living in a bad neighborhood , stop looking for others to change your situation and change it for yourself. getting a education is first, next you find employment;once you have a job you feel better about yourself and you see a way out, after you get yourself together then you reach out and help someone else get it together. Let's all pray for guidance and for the way to make our situations better, then get up and do something. If places like Newport Beach and Palos Verdes can have a crime free community than so can we, it can be done. We need to get together and make our City leaders accountable and make them come up with solutions to stop this mess. PEOPLE WAKE UP!!!!WE NEED TO HELP OURSELVES GET OUR NEIGHBORHOODS BACK FROM THE THUGS AND DRUG DEALERS. WE NEED TO SAVE OUR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN, WE NEED TO UNITE AND FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS TO LIVE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. WE NEED TO SPEAK UP, SHOUT OUT, STAND TALL AND MAKE THE GANGSTERS SEE WE WONT TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!.

— Lady Joker, you just remember what you said come this November.
Change will occur when the same set of do nothing politicians are kicked out of office and new ones put in their place. And keep kicking them out untill someone actually does something good.

Foclipz, your comment is sad, but true. My heart goes out the family of this victim, especially the child or children that don't have a daddy anymore. But if you live by the sword, you die by the sword. I know, I lost my brother to this same non-sense 10 years ago! It can't stop and it wont stop! cause nobody really give a dam! That's why I'm moving away from this hell hole... like Cecile left Mister!
