Gregory Horn, 25

Died April 28, 2011

Gregory Horn, a 25-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, April 28, in the 3900 block of Coco Avenue in Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Horn and another man began arguing about 5:30 p.m. when the man pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds at Horn, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was struck in the chest and taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, LAPD Officer Gregory Baek told The Times.

Police on Thursday night were looking for the gunman. They believe the shooting may have been gang-related.

At least 63 homicides have been reported within two miles of the killing scene since January 2007, according to a Times Homicide Report database.

Anyone with information about the slaying is asked to call authorities at (877) 527-3247. Tipsters who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

Did Greg play basketball at Dorsey? I used to pick him and his friend Anthony up in that same neighborhood to play ball with my church team. They were good kids.
